KC Civil Rights Summit

On this Monday'sCentral Standard we speak with Ayanna Hightower-Mannon and Paul Pierce, who work inKansas City's Civil Rights Division.

They're bringing attention to the  issues of mass incarceration, including the escalating number of prisoners, and the challenges they face upon reentry in employment and housing. We’ll also look at other modern day civil rights issues facing the most vulnerable among us, including fair housing, voter suppression, and predatory payday lending.

COMING UP:
The 4th annual Civil Rights Summit takes place on April 27 at 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Southeast Community Center, 4201 E. 63rd St. in Kansas City.  The event is held annually in April in commemoration of Fair Housing Month.
