Richard Alwyn joins Central Standard to share his favorite songs for the lonely heart and to talk about his live event, The Love Hangover.

"The 'Moonglow' theme has a special tingly quality to it. There are two people dancing in a small park beside a stream at a Labor Day picnic," he said. "My wife grew up in a rural town about ten miles from where the picnic scene was filmed."

Continuing our series on love songs, KCUR announcer Danie Alexander shares a bit about the audio intensity of a piece by composer Samuel Barber.

"It's so lush. It starts out so beautifully," Alexander says with an energy that rivals the song. "It builds, and then right at the climax, it hangs."

"A pause," she says carefully, speaking more slowly than previously. "And then it drops right into the end of the song."

This song made a lasting impression. It shows in her eyes.

The question was, 'what's your favorite love song?'

Why? That answer comes easily as well.
