Writer and teacher Sandra Moran died on Saturday, November 7, at the age of 46, after a brief battle with cancer.

Moran was born in Topeka, Kansas, on Dec. 20, 1968, and grew up in Dover. She earned three degrees from the University of Kansas: a bachelor's degree in journalism, and master's degrees in public administration and in anthropology.

For Johnson County Community College students who want to take classes at the University of Kansas, things are going to get a whole lot easier, according to JCCC officials.

The two schools will roll out a new partnership program that will allow JCCC students to enroll in general education courses at the community college while also taking upper-level courses in their field of study at KU's Edwards or Lawrence campuses.

Francis Bacon And The Gulf Oil Spill

Dec 7, 2011

On today's show, a conversation about the influence of 17th Century Renaissance poets on modern environmental thought. Modern environmental thought breaks down into two different schools. One says science can create new technology to solve the environmental crisis, and the other school of thought calls that approach pure hubris, and argues for a more ethical treatment of nature in the first place. We'll speak with Johnson County Community College English professor Anthony Funari about how the origins of this modern debate lies in the 17th Century writings of Francis Bacon.
