That chill in the air isn’t the only thing that will give you goosebumps. With the approach of Halloween, all kinds of spooky stuff is coming your way.

On Friday's Up to Date, DVD Gurus Mitch Brian and Jason Heck join us to share their favorite horror films. We’ll follow the creepy tale of a pair of hands with minds of their own, cower from an invisible demon and duck a mad man’s sharp axe. They’ll leave you wanting to check under the bed before you go to sleep tonight.

With a chill creeping into the air, it’s that time of year. You want to curl up on the couch with a blanket and a book.

On Tuesday's Up to Date, the Book Doctors return to add some goosebumps to match the chill as you get ready for Halloween with their favorite mysteries and maybe a touch of horror.

The books recommended on the show:

University of Kansas Film and Media Studies professor John C. Tibbetts is not just a film scholar, but a fan of its work, more specifically, science fiction.  He had a strong influence: Tibbetts' father was an early science fiction fan who named his son after Edgar Rice Burrough's second great hero, John Carter of Mars.
