Renee explores the meditative side of music with the sounds of Uwe Gronau, Steve Brand, Michelle Ippolito, and more.

This week's Night Tides opened with a song from the new album by Uwe Gronau, Time Rider. Gronau, a German artist who resides and works primarily in Bocholt, Germany, grew up listening to an array of popular music styles from Germany and nearby Holland. He picked up his first instrument as a young child, playing first classical music, but pursuing interests in jazz and rock music not long after.

Gronau saw success  early in his musical career with rock bands Sternberg and Pont Neuf, before moving on to recording music on his own. His solo work is more experimental than his group work. On his newest album, he seeks to create both a vehicle and a soundtrack for the listener's exploration of their past, present, and future. A combination of instrumental pieces and songs with lyrics, Gronau is responsible for most instrumental and vocal elements of the album, with contributions from guest artists and his producer enhancing the sound experience.

Renee chooses "Far In the East" from Time Rider to kick off another evening of relaxation and contemplation with musical accompaniment.
