For the first time, UMKC Chancellor Leo Morton apologized on Monday for the untruthful information the university supplied to online reviewers of its Bloch Business School entrepreneurship program.
Morton made the apology on KCUR’s Up to Date with Steve Kraske.
“This is a serious issue to me because it’s not what we’re about," he says. "And I want everyone to know we’re addressing it in a very serious way. Frankly, I want to assure everyone that we are doing everything humanly possible to ensure this does not happen again.”
UMKC lost four years of rankings from the Princeton Review after an outside investigation determined the university submitted inflated data about the entrepreneurship program
Morton says the issue can be traced back to one administrator who Morton describes as "pushing the envelope."
Morton wouldn’t name that person on Up to Date, citing personnel issues.
He says UMKC has established a new faculty committee to review all future rankings submissions.
