Kansas City, Mo. – Over four days of early May, Kansas City Police and counterparts from suburbs and area sheriffs departments rounded up more than two hundred suspected or convicted drunk drivers. Enforcers operated from warrants that had languished for months. The driving force was an 71 percent increase in Kansas City traffic fatalities in the last year. KCUR's Dan Verbeck followed the sweep and has an account.
