Google Unveils High Speed Internet Plans

Google unveiled its plans to bring high speed internet to Kansas City yesterday after more than a year of widespread speculation but few concrete details.  Google will begin bring gigabit internet service to Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas in September.  It will also offer a new product, Google TV.  Find out more here.

Former Olympian Is Peter Pan

When two-time Olympian Cathy Rigby retired from gymnastics at the age of 19, she started to pursue other career possibilities, including musical theatre.  In a recent interview backstage at Starlight, Rigby, now 59, told KCUR’s Laura Spencer that the skills are quite different, but the discipline in gymnastics and acting is the same.  Listen to the story here.

Kansas City Settles To Provide More Access To The Disabled

Kansas City will be required to become more accessible to those with disabilities after complaints about non-compliance with federal regulations, advocates say  In a settlement with the Justice Department, the city will be required to make changes to streets, sidewalks and buildings in line with the 1990 Americans With Disabilities Act.  Read more here.
