Social Worker Challenges Traditional Concepts Of Mental, Physical Health
Kansas City, MO – Dr. Robert Prue - a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota -feels it's crucial to attend to people's spiritual needs when deciding what services to provide. Prue has written extensively about Native American healing rituals and the use of peyote - known as a hallucinogenic drug. Robert Prue is a visiting professor of Social Work at UMKC this year - KC Currents' Susan Wilson caught up with him recently, and asked about how Native American healing concepts and rituals fit into social work.
