Senate Hopeful Robin Carnahan Tours State to Rally Support

By Adam Allington, St. Louis Public Radio

St. Louis, MO – Missouri's much-anticipated contest for the United States Senate is almost over. As St. Louis Public Radio's Adam Allington reports, Democrat Robin Carnahan is still touring the state to rally support for her campaign.

Carnahan cast her vote early this morning at her polling place near Forest Park, in St. Louis. She then took off for rallies in Kansas City and Columbia.

Carnahan has consistently trailed her opponent Roy Blunt for most of the campaign, somewhere between five and nine percent in various polls.

But, speaking to her supporters yesterday Carnahan told her supporters to ignore the pundits who predict the race is over. She pointed to her 2004 election to Secretary of State as a case in point.

In order for Carnahan to have a fighting chance she'll need to have big turnout from her bases in St. Louis, Kansas City and Columbia.

Robin Carnahan will co-host a poll watching party, together with her brother Russ Carnahan at the Renaissance Grand Hotel in St. Louis later tonight.
