Segment 1: A Lebanese dinner at the Kemper Museum and a new tortilleria in the East Bottoms.

We talk with a chef whose Midwestern childhood and Lebanese heritage come together on the plate at Cafe Sebastienne — and at a special Lebanese dinner at the museum. Then, a visit to a local tortilleria where they make corn tortillas the traditional way.

Dinner Series: volume one: Lebanon, 6 p.m., Saturday, March 24 at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, 4420 Warwick Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri 64111. Tickets are $75 per person ($65 for museum members); call 816-561-7740 for reservations or sign up online here.

Segment 2, beginning at 17:33: The food critics share their favorite burritos and wraps.

What's the difference between a burrito and a wrap? KCUR's food critics discuss, plus their recommendations on the best in town.

People don't make cameos in news stories; the human story is the story, with characters affected by news events, not defined by them. As a columnist and podcaster, I want to acknowledge what it feels like to live through this time in Kansas City, one vantage point at a time. Together, these weekly vignettes form a collage of daily life in Kansas City as it changes in some ways, and stubbornly resists change in others.
