The Science of Energy
Decades ago, scientists and energy experts predicted that 2013 would include flying cars and that by now, oil would be a thing of the past. But the state of our energy consumption in America has stayed somewhat the same, while causing intense political discussion on the matter.
On this Central Standard, we are joined by Mariesa L. Crow, a Fred Finley distinguished professor of Electrical Engineering at Missouri and Dr. Mary Reezac, a ConocoPhillips Professor of Sustainable Energy of chemical engineering at Kansas State University. Our guests will talk about sustainable energy
Later in the show, we learn about the Battle of the Brains competition at Union Station's Science City, which encouraged local high schools to submit ideas for the exhibit. Jeff Rosenblatt, the Director of Science City & Gottlieb Planetarium Kansas City’s Science Center explains the competition and introduces Emily Johnson, a senior from Olathe North who won the competition. Johnson's team created a power wheel that is not exhibited at Science City.
