Protestors Criticize Skelton For Not Holding Town Hall On Health Care

Jefferson City, MO – Protesters are criticizing central Missouri Democratic Congressman Ike Skelton for not holding any town hall meetings on the current health care debate. KWMU's Marshall Griffin reports.

Nearly a hundred people held signs and demonstrated outside of Congressman Skelton's Jefferson City office.

They spoke out against House legislation that would create a government-operated health care plan, and accused the Missouri Democrat of deliberately ignoring their concerns.

Keith Krueger of Jefferson City was among the demonstrators.

KRUEGER:"Congressman Skelton, I've voted for you several times in the past, but it's going to be hard for you to get my vote again if you support this proposal."

A spokesperson for Skelton says he wants to hear from his constituents, and asks that they write or call his congressional offices in either Washington DC or Jefferson City.

Americans for Prosperity and the Adam Smith Foundation co-hosted the rally.
