The supermoon on March 19, 2001.

This Saturday at 10:35pm CST marks the return of the supermoon - the coincidence of a full Moon with the perigee of the Moon's orbit around the Earth.

The full Moon will appear up to 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than the other Moons we've seen this year.

This video from Space.com explains the supermoon in detail:

The difference in the Moon's bigness and brightness will be most obvious when it appears near a horizon line, perhaps because of its juxtaposition to relatively much smaller earthly objects.
