Moore Gives His Reason: Twelve Years Is Enough

Nov 24, 2009

Olathe, Kansas – The Congressman reiterated that the only reason he was retiring was to spend more time with his family - his wife, children and grandchildren.

Moore spoke quietly as he said again that he was tired, that this had been a particularly frustrating and grueling session of Congress.

As for excitement among Republicans regarding the news of his leaving, Moore said he was "concerned but confident" the 3rd District would remain Democratic. In support of his optimism, he noted that his own election for six consecutive terms indicates that his party is strong in the district.

Congressman Moore will finish out his term.
He said he has no plans to seek further elected office at this time.
