Missouri Primary Election 2016 Results

KCUR 89.3
Voters in Missouri join four others states in choosing which Republican and Democratic candidates will earn delegates for the 2016 presidential election.

Updated, 7 p.m. Thursday:

Hillary Clinton has won the Missouri Democratic presidential primary.

The Associated Press reported Thursday afternoon U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders will not seek a recount, which candidates are entitled to request if the margin is less than one-half of 1 percent.

It's still possible Ted Cruz could ask for a recount on the Republican side. He finished about two-tenths of a percent behind Donald Trump in Tuesday's presidential primary.

The original post continues below.

Missouri voters gathered at polling placesTuesday to make their presidential candidate choices in the 2016 general election.

Democratic candidates vie for 71 Missouri delegates distributed proportionally. Republicans compete for 52 delegates in a winner-take-all model if a candidate earns more than 50 percent of total votes, and a winner-take-most model if there is no clear majority.

Unofficial results from the Secretary of State's office will be updated below as precincts from across the state report.

Updated, 10:41 a.m., Thursday

All precincts are now reporting, but some provisional and absentee ballots still remain uncounted, according to a news release by Secretary of State Jason Kander. That process could take up to four weeks. As as result of those outstanding votes, these results are still not final.
