Local Safety Net Hospital Leader On Health Care

http://stream.publicbroadcasting.net/production/mp3/kcur/local-kcur-862538.mp3

Kansas City, MO – Safety net hospital leaders from across the country are in Washington D.C. this week, meeting with members of Congress about overhauling the nation's health care system. KCUR's Elana Gordon recently sat down with John Bluford, CEO of Truman Medical Centers in Kansas City, to talk about how the health care legislation being developed in Congress could affect safety net hospitals like Truman. Bluford, who's slated to become chair of the American Hospital Association in 2010 and is also the past chair of the National Association of Public Hospitals, says for hospitals like Truman, enacting meaningful legislation now is critical.

Funding for health care coverage on KCUR has been provided by the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City.
