Legislators Likely To Pursue Changes To Medicaid Overhaul Plan
Some lawmakers believe the Kansas Legislature will try to amend a plan to overhaul the state's Medicaid program.
Governor Sam Brownback's proposal will reorganize the agencies that handle Medicaid and create privatized managed-care programs.
Democratic Topeka Senator Anthony Hensley believes the overhaul should be delayed.
"Until after the next session, I think we need at least another legislative session with legislative oversight to continue to ask questions and get answers," Hensley said.
A rally is scheduled for tomorrow, as lawmakers return to Topeka for the wrap up session. The protest is aimed at urging legislators to exempt people with developmental disabilities from the proposed managed care programs.
