KCUR Disables Comments, Following NPR's Lead

Dec 13, 2016

This week, KCUR disabled the comment capabilities on all web stories available on KCUR.org. The move follows in the footsteps of  NPR., of which we are a member station.

In a blog post from August, NPR ombudsmen Elizabeth Jensen outlined the changes to NPR.org, which mirrors those of many other news organizations nationwide.

KCUR values community engagement immensely; it is part of our mission and strategic plan and we have staff dedicated to engagement work and outreach.

Like NPR, we have tracked the habits of our audience online and know that people prefer to engage with us on social media. Social media offers our community and our staff a better way to engage in constructive dialog around issues and our work.

KCUR is now, more than ever, dedicated to engaging with the Kansas City community in all its forms and in many places. We want to hear what you have to say, and we want you to know that we are listening. Feedback of all kinds is recorded and tracked at KCUR. And we recognized that your insight about issues in our community and the work we do at KCUR makes us better.
