Kansas City Needs To Embrace Failure To Support Its Entrepreneurs

The word "failure" generally has negative connotations but in the startup world, failure is considered a good thing. We talk about how it got its positive spin and how Kansas City could do a better job embracing it.

Guests:

  • Adam Arredondo is the co-founder of the Center of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Development, or CEED. He is also the co-founder of KC Startup Village and experienced failure in his first business venture.
  • Joni Cobb is the founding President and CEO of Pipeline Entrepreneurs.
  • Bobby Burch is the founder of Startland News, a digital news platform that covers the startup community in Kansas City.
When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers. Reach me at steve@kcur.org or on Twitter @stevekraske.
Kansas City needs journalists who show up not just on people’s worst days, but on their best ones — and the boring ones in between. As KCUR’s news director, I build relationships across the metro, so our newsroom can bring you critical information when times are tough, and seek out moments of joy to celebrate.
