Kansas City, MO – The City of Kansas City and Union Station officials announced yesterday (Wednesday) the Kansas City Museum at Corinthian Hall would stay open while a new contract is negotiated. KCUR's Laura Spencer reports.
Both Union Station and the city of Kansas City claim ownership of the Kansas City Museum collection. And the city has said it would terminate its contract with Union Station to operate the museum over the issue. Both sides met yesterday afternoon in City Manager Wayne Cauthen's office and left with an agreement for a six-month extension of the current contract which was set to expire at midnight on April 30. Officials say they'll try to reach an agreement within 60 days so Union Station can continue to pursue renewal of its museum accreditation. The extension must be approved by the full city council at today's meeting. Laura Spencer, KCUR News.
