Kansas City, MO – Wanda Jackson has been called the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll, the First Lady of Rockabilly, and the Original Riot Grrl. She started her musical career at the age of 6 when her father, a fiddle player, taught her how to play guitar to accompany him on stage. In 1955 and '56, when she was still a teenager, she toured with Elvis Presley, who introduced her to the rockabilly sound. Wanda Jackson comes to Kansas City this week, and KCUR's Laura Spencer talked to her recently about her career, and her latest album, a tribute album called I Remember Elvis.
Wanda Jackson performs Thursday, May 18 at Knucklehead's Saloon in Kansas City, Missouri.
