Kansas City, MO – This week, former New Orleans superintendent Anthony Amato settled in to his new office at 1211 McGee, headquarters of the Kansas City Missouri school district. He replaces Bernard Taylor, who led the district for 5 years, and helped the district achieve provisional accreditation. Many parents and community leaders picked Amato as a clear favorite after a series of public interviews with the top candidates for the job. The Board selected him in a 5 to 3 vote, and signed a contract of 220,000 dollars. KCUR's Sylvia Maria Gross sat down with Amato on Friday to get his first impressions on the district.
