Kansas City, Missouri – About 300 leading educators, activists, and corporate representatives from around the country wrapped up a national conference on "school-based mentoring" in Kansas City this week. One of the keynote speakers, Frosty Troy says adult mentoring in schools is now more important than ever. Troy is an editorial writer at the Oklahoma Observer, who speaks widely on education, and contributes to the conservative Christian Ethics Today journal. Troy told KCUR's Frank Morris that public education faces mounting challenges, the worst of which is an erosion of parenting skills.
