'How Science Got Women Wrong', And Quixotic's Creative Process

Quixotic Cirque Nouveau

For centuries, research about women has been flawed. Today, we learn how gender and cultural bias has affected scientific study.  Author and journalist Angela Saine says new research refutes the long-held view that women are inferior. Also, we explore the creative process behind the Kansas City performance art group Quixotic. Hear how their latest project combines acrobatics, modern ballet, and digital projections with the music of Radiohead in a new telling of an old folk tale.

Quixotic will perform 'Firebird' at the University of Kansas' Lied Center at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9. For more information, visit Lied.KU.edu.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers. Reach me at steve@kcur.org or on Twitter @stevekraske.
