Why a tour of Missouri for the Mexican ambassador? "I want to persuade people that a strong and successful Mexico is very much in the interest of the United States," says Amb. Gerónimo Gutiérrez.";

During World War I, millions of letters were sent between the American servicemen in Europe and their loved ones back home. Kansas City author and publicist Pat O'Neill focused in on 223 letters sent during the war by his grandfather. Today, we learn Sgt. George Wigert's story. Then, we meet Mexico's top diplomat in the U.S., Gerónimo Gutiérrez, who faces tough challenges representing his country during the Trump Administration. He says the North American neighbors' fates are deeply intertwined.

Pat O'Neill discusses his new book, 'Dear Mother: Letters from a Lonesome Sammy 1915-1919,' at the Plaza Branch of the Kansas City Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 26. Go to KCLibrary.org for more information.
