Georgian Folksongs

Kansas City, MO – Normally, the Hen House Grocery Store in Fairway, Kansas has classical music playing on the sound system. But if you're lucky you just might walk in one morning to a live performance of Georgian folksongs by two of the store's employees, Boris Varatzkhelia and Fattah Kriner, the bread baker. When Linda Sher visited the two friends, Varatzkhelia was handing Kriner several bits of white paper with two new songs, the lyrics in Russian but spelled out phonetically.
