This week Renee shares more of her Night Tides musical journey with you, featuring new music from Lynn Yew Evers and Joseph Sullinger.
Lynn Yew Evers is a classically trained pianists who composes and plays her own "classical/crossover, adult contemporary and pop" solo piano pieces, as well as accompanying soloists, ensembles, and dancers in the U.S., Europe, and Malaysia. Her most recent album, Dawn of Peace (2012), is a collection of calming piano music. Evers' classical roots shine through in her compositions, and her deceptively simple pieces can evoke a range of emotions.
The guitar music of Joseph Sullinger pulls from several different influences--classical training, time spent living in Mexico, and a background of playing in rock groups. Sullinger, who now resides in Mexico, grew up in a musical household, with a mother who worked as a school music teacher, and a father who played principle tuba in the Mexican Philharmonic Orchestra. Sullinger picked up the guitar at a young age. In the 90s and early 2000s, he played in line-ups that included Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath. However, his new album, Earth Voyage (2011), strays far from hard rock'n'roll. He draws heavily on classical and Latin guitar influences, and the album could easily be categorized as "world music." He is accompanied on several tracks by the Mexican Philharmonic Orchestra.
