Chiefs Sports Lab Targets Childhood Obesity
Kansas City, MO – A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place yesterday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City for the opening of the Chiefs Sports Lab. It's part of the Arrowhead renovation project, and targeted toward children in grades three through six with a message for better health.
The sports lab, a mixture of displays and interactive exhibits, is open to anyone on game day, but meant for youths in an organized group during the week.
Chiefs Chairman Clark Hunt and members of his family were on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony. So was Janet Waugh, member of the Kansas Board of Education.
"We're so extremely fortunate here in Kansas City to have a family like the Hunts, to have an organization like the Kansas City Chiefs, that doesn't just pay lip service to meeting the needs of our young people," says Waugh. "But backs it up with action."
The main purpose of the Chiefs Sports Lab is to convey the importance of preventing childhood obesity.
