Broadway Across America and Theater League Combine Broadway Series

In 2006, the Kansas City City Council awarded a contract to Broadway Across America - instead of Kansas City-based Theater League - to present Broadway shows in the Music Hall. Today the two organizations announced they've teamed up to present a five-show "Kansas City Best of Broadway Series."

Kansas City, MO – There will be two shows at the Music Hall, and three in the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, as part of its inaugural 2011 - 2012 season.

KCUR's Laura Spencer talked to Broadway Across America's Ann Rippey and Theater League's Mark Edelman about the agreement.

The full lineup of Broadway touring productions for the 2011-2012 season at the Kauffman Center and the Music Hall will be announced in January 2011.

For a more detailed look at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, its mission, and the organizations that will present there, check out KCUR's blog Sound and Glass.

Kansas City is known for its style of jazz, influenced by the blues, as the home of Walt Disney’s first animation studio and the headquarters of Hallmark Cards. As one of KCUR’s arts reporters, I want people here to know a wide range of arts and culture stories from across the metropolitan area. I take listeners behind the scenes and introduce them to emerging artists and organizations, as well as keep up with established institutions.
