Being A White Ally In the Fight For Racial Justice

What does it mean to be a white person who wants a place in the Black Lives Matter movement? Some say it starts by acknowledging you’re white. We talk about how to be what activists call ‘white allies.’

  • Anna Svoboda-Stel is a community organizer and community health worker from Kansas City. Anna has been a core member of the local organization One Struggle KC for almost 2 years, and has recently become involved in Showing Up For Racial Justice KC.
  • Alice Chamberlain is a professional organizer and one of the founding members of SURJ KC.
  • John Tramel is a social worker with experience in the areas of community organizing, community development, mental health, domestic violence, and social justice education and organizing.
