Behind The Scenes Of Kansas City's Restaurant Week

Restaurant Week in Kansas City is a great opportunity to try new menus all over the city at a great price, but for those behind the scenes preparing and serving those meals, it can be the most exhausting week of the year. Steve Kraske talks to restaurant industry professionals about the unique challenges they face during the week.

Guests:

  • Lisa has been serving in Kansas City for six years, this is her third year working Restaurant Week.
  • Barbara Rafael owns Le Fou Frog, which has participated in Restaurant Week for the last four years.
  • Bart Hickey is the chairman of the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers. Reach me at steve@kcur.org or on Twitter @stevekraske.
Slow news days are a thing of the past. As KCUR’s news director, I want to cut through the noise, provide context to the headlines, and give you news you can use in your daily life – information that will empower you to make informed decisions about your neighborhood, your city and the region.
