Kansas City, MO – The Aladdin Hotel is set to reopen in downtown Kansas City next week. The eight decade old hotel has been closed for the past three years, but will reopen next week after a 19 million dollar renovation. General manager Fred Frye says he expects guests to include business travelers as well as those in town for conventions at the nearby bartle hall.
Fry: We're very excited about everything that is I happening in downtown Kansas City. The resurgence of downtown is obvious with the Sprint Center being open in October and the Power and Light District. We feel like people will return to downtown.
The Aladdin will add nearly 200 boutique hotel rooms to downtown. Seven million dollars in Tax Increment Financing, or TIF, was used for the project estimated to cost some 19 million dollars.
