25 Things Kansas Citians Say Every Metro Resident Should Do At Least Once

Every Kansas Citian has a list of out-of-towner attractions — barbecue, the Nelson-Atkins, a stroll through the Plaza. But we have been wondering: what should Kansas Citians be putting on our own to-do list? What hidden gems are right next to us that we need to see (or do) at least once?

We asked you to give us your suggestions, and we got a ton of them!

Here we present the incomplete "Kansas Citian bucket list" — a list of things every person in Kansas City should do at least once. Feel free to add additional items in the comments.

1. Visit the National World War I Museum

2. Take a ride to the top of Liberty Memorial at the National World War I Museum

3. Hear live jazz music at a local bar like The Blue Room or the Green Lady Lounge

4. Tailgate before a Royals or Chiefs game

5. Jam to music after midnight at the Mutual Musicians Foundation

6. Walk, run or bike Cliff Drive

7. Eat a Winstead's Skyskraper soda

8. Stand in the footprints of Lewis and Clark at Kaw Point

9. Attend First Friday in the West Bottoms

10. Picnic on the lawn at the Nelson-Atkins Museum

11. See the rose garden at Loose Park in full bloom

12. Visit the Steamboat Arabia Museum

13. Listen to live music (and eat barbeque) at BB's Lawnside BBQ

14. Tour Boulevard Brewery

15. See the confluence of the Missouri and Kansas rivers

16. Visit the Linda Hall Library

17. Spend a Saturday exploring all the pocket neighborhoods 

18. Check out the Historic Northeast

19. Go to the World Series of Barbecue at the American Royal

20. Go to the National Airline History Museum

21. See something at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts
