12th Street Jump
Fri June 22, 2012
2012 Summer & Fall Schedule
Jazz luminaries from Charlie Parker to Hank Jones, Arturo Sandoval to the Boswell Sisters will be celebrated this Summer and Fall on 12th Street Jump, public radio’s jazz, blues and comedy jam.
Recorded live! in Kansas City, where Count Basie, Charlie Parker, Big Joe Turner and other jazz greats got their starts, 12th Street Jump is broadcast weekly on twenty public radio stations around the country, as well as every Saturday night at midnight on 89.3FM KCUR, the home of 12th Street Jump.
“12th Street Jump continues to grow, both in reputation and in reach," commented Mark Edelman, the show's Executive Producer. "We added WJAB in Huntsville, Ala.; WMCE in Erie, Penn. and WVPE in Elkhart/South Bend, Ind., all great jazz broadcasters. The show's even heard on the faraway Pribilof Islands in Alaska, thanks to local station KUHB."
Recorded live from Kansas City, 12th Street Jump celebrates the birthday of a Jazz or Blues great each week. Combining topical sketch comedy with jazz news and great music, the show is hosted by Pete Weber and Pearl McDonald and features vocalists David Basse and Nedra Dixon, musical director Joe Cartwright on piano, Tyrone Clark on bass and Mike Warren on drums.
