2010 CSF Generative Performing Artist Awards

This year's winners of the Charlotte Street Foundation's Generative Performing Artist Awards are two Kansas City artists known for the diversity of their ensemble work. KCUR's Laura Spencer reports. By Laura Spencer

Kansas City, MO – Brad Cox is musical director and co-founder of Owen/Cox Dance Group and a founder and contributing composer to the People's Liberation Big Band of Greater Kansas City.

Stephanie Roberts teaches physical theater at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and founded Boom! An International Lost and Found Family Marching Band.

The artists were selected through a competitive process by a panel of area performing arts professionals. Each will receive $6,500 in unrestricted cash awards for their work. A public performance is planned for fall, 2010.

Since 1997, a total of $490,500 has been granted to 78 Kansas City artists through the Charlotte Street Awards.
