St. Louis, MO – In a baseball season that has taken a downturn in Kansas City since April, there was a ray of hope for a Kansas City Royals starter in this year's All-Star game. Kansas City, MO – If you're taking a walk through Gillham Park on a Thursday evening you might stumble across what looks a little like a high school football practice.

Kansas City, MO – In college sports, Division II schools, like Emporia State and Central Missouri, will begin play in the NCAA baseball tournament Thursday. They're hoping to reach the Division II World Series, which this year will be held outside Raleigh, North Carolina.

Kansas City, MO – The pitching of Kansas City Royals starter Zach Greinke has become the biggest story in baseball this month. Greinke is featured on the cover of "Sports Illustrated" magazine this week, the first time a Royals player has graced the cover since 1993. Kansas City, MO – The Kansas City Chiefs have named a new general manager to succeed Carl Peterson, who resigned last month. Scott Pioli (pee-OH-lee) is the choice. He has spent the last nine years in the front office of the New England Patriots.
Kansas City, MO – Longtime Kansas City Chiefs executive Carl Peterson has resigned. He held the titles of president, general manager and CEO. Chiefs owner Clark Hunt made the announcement through a written statement Monday. Peterson was unavailable for comment. KCUR's Greg Echlin has more.
The announcement took place on the heels of a heartbreaker against the San Diego Chargers, the Chiefs' 12th loss in 14 games this season.
Lincoln, NE – The University of Kansas and Missouri football teams began their Big 12 schedules over the weekend with road victories. It was especially sweet for the Missouri Tigers. They picked up their first victory in Lincoln, Nebraska, since 1978. But MU didn't leave without some parting shots.

Kansas City, MO – Basketball icon Wilt Chamberlain's final game at the University of Kansas was in 1958 against in-state rival, Kansas State University. The Jayhawks trounced K-State, which at the time was the top-ranked team in the nation, 61 to 44. Chamberlain led his team to victory in that game, but he had already announced that he was planning to turn professional before graduation. It was an unprecedented decision at that time.
