The Texas County, Missouri, coroner says all seven people killed in an overnight house-to-house rampage were adults.

The victims were found at four homes in Tyrone, about 40 miles north of the Arkansas border. The gunman was discovered in a neighboring county. He was dead from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

He has been identified as Joseph Jesse Aldridge, 36, of Tyrone. He is believed to be a cousin of the victims:

As Kansas City prepared for the spotlight of the World Series, a little girl stepped out of a local convenience store. A car drove by, someone fired shots, and in seconds, six-year old Angel Hooper was dead. In the days since her murder, the Kansas City Police Department has received only two tips in its investigation.

The community response to the death of unarmed black teenager, Michael Brown, in Ferguson, Mo. has varied from rioting and looting to peaceful protests and calls for civil discourse. Is there a way of responding to police shootings that can effect personal, social, or political change?

On Friday, Jackson County prosecutors named Mohammed Whitaker, 27, as the suspect in the recent highway shootings in Kansas City. He was charged with at least 18 counts tied to a series of at least a dozen shootings.

The original post begins here:

A suspect is in custody in connection with a series of at least a dozen shootings on Kansas City highways, law enforcement officials announced Thursday night.

Police say there might be as many as 20 victims in the spree of highway shootings around the Kansas City area.

Captain Tye Grant says since the shootings have been widely publicized, a number of people have come forward who think they may have been involved in a similar incident.

Police are now looking into 20 possible shootings on area highways, but Grant emphasizes the number is extremely fluid.

“Because honestly that is changing so much by the time I give it to you and the time you report it, it’s going to change," says Grant.

Enough people were willing to talk about a gun assault on an Overland Park, Kansas house,  investigators have arrested a man and charges are leveled.

Local and federal officers made the arrest in a crime that  was unusual, so few drive-by shootings happen in that Johnson County, Kansas locale.

Late in the evening of September 30th,  someone drove to a ranch  home near 99th Terrace and Kessler and opened fire, putting as many as 10 rounds into walls and windows.

An 8 year old boy was wounded and  survived.

Elmwood Cemetery Loses A Longtime Friend

Family and friends come and go as they pay their respects at Elmwood Cemetery, but one visitor lived on the grassy grounds her whole life.

Ella was a two-year-old deer born in the courtyard of one of Elmwood's mausoleums. The volunteers who run the cemetery, located at Truman Road and Hardesty Avenue, say they don't know exactly where she came from. About three months after she was born, her mother strayed away from the grounds and was struck by a car.
