Family Ties Possibly Contributed to Robin Carnahan's Loss

St. Louis, MO – One question that Democrats in Missouri are asking themselves today -- how did U-S Senate candidate Robin Carnahan lose so badly to Republican Roy Blunt Tuesday? St. Louis Public Radio's Bill Raack reports.

Blunt beat Carnahan by 14 points in the race to replace retiring Senator Kit Bond. University of Missouri-St. Louis professor David Robertson says Carnahan's loss may have been due largely to her family.

Video Pulled from Blunt's Site

St. Louis, MO – A short video featuring an interview with Missouri Democratic Senate nominee Robin Carnahan combined with a photo of World Trade Center rubble has been removed from Republican Roy Blunt's YouTube site. The clip contains a radio interview, in which Carnahan says she would not try to tell New Yorkers whether or not a mosque should be built near the site of the 9-11 attack. When St. Louis Public Radio's Marshall Griffin asked Blunt about the video, Blunt objected to the question:

Obama Stumps For Carnahan In Downtown KC

Kansas City, MO – President Barack Obama came to Kansas City today to stump for Senate hopeful Robin Carnahan. After visiting a local electric car plant, he attended a thousand-dollar-a-plate fundraiser at the downtown Marriott, and then went next door to the Folly Theater for what was billed as a "grassroots" rally.

President Obama lost the state of Missouri in the 2008 election by just a few thousand votes. Still, Democrats are hoping his support will help Secretary of State Robin Carnahan defeat longtime 7th district Congressman Roy Blunt, formerly the minority whip.
