Nearly 900 streets in the U.S. are named for Martin Luther King Jr. But there's not one in Kansas City.

Several prominent, local black political and religious leaders want to change that by renaming The Paseo to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, but say they've been met with bureaucratic resistance. So, they want to take the fight to the ballot box.

If you voted in Kansas City, Missouri, in November, you may remember being asked whether the city should remove two pieces of land from the park system.

Those two parcels of land were “no longer necessary or appropriate for park, parkway or boulevard use.”

What does that mean? And who determines what park properties should be removed?

KC Fountains Turned On After Annual Ceremony

Many of the city's fountains were turned on Tuesday, following the annual Fountain Day celebration. The ceremony was held at the Marlborough Fountain, located at 79th and Paseo.

It's a popular saying in our town that only Rome has more public fountains than Kansas City.
