Chuck Haddix has been hosting KCUR's The Fish Fry every Friday and Saturday, 8 pm - midnight, since 1985. Haddix is also the director of the Marr Sound Archives, a collection of 250,000 sound recordings housed in the Miller Nichols Library at The University of Missouri - Kansas City.

Kansas City , Mo. – Mark Dufresne talks with Fish Fry host Chuck Haddock about his introduction to the blues, his early days of clubbing, and the blues scene in the Pacific Northwest.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1953, he started playing harmonica in his early 20s.

There's a brick building at 31st and Gillham, which has stood for more than eight decades. Most of the time it's been known as the El Torreon, but for three years in the early '70s, it was transformed into the Cowtown Ballroom.
