A To Z Theatrical Supply And Service Enters Second Act In New Location

After five decades in the Waldo neighborhood of Kansas City, A to Z Theatrical Supply and Service has moved to a long-vacant building in east Brookside.

The company's new location at 800 East Meyer Boulevard — originally the home of Kehilath Israel synagogue and later a Pentecostal Church — combines retail space with a warehouse and shop.

A to Z got its start in 1959, and opened the 6,000-square-foot Waldo location in 1961. President Alex Perry says the company outgrew the space several years ago.

"We have been searching for a building to combine the two together and have everything under one roof," says Perry, who's also the Unicorn Theatre's resident lighting designer.

"We like to say we can provide everything from A to Z and we’d like to do it in one building."

A to Z is the Kansas City area's largest full-scale supply company for costumes, props, lighting, set design and sound. They work with schools, churches, and theater companies, as well as the general public, on theatrical productions, costume events, and corporate parties.
