What's Showing In Independent, Foreign & Documentary Film

A group of Aboriginal singers get their big break—but it means traveling into the midst of the Vietnam War.

Two British girls find that the Cuban Missile Crisis half a world away is changing their world, whether they like it or not, and a forensic psychiatrist discovers something unsettling about one of her patients.

On Friday's Up to Date, the indie, foreign and documentary film critics’ list includes all of these and much more, as they take a look at the films open on the silver screen in Kansas City this week.

We'll also speak with Justin Schwarz, whose film The Discoverers will be screened at next week's Kansas City Filmfest.

Our critics discussed:

The Discoverers

The Sapphires

Ginger And Rosa

6 Souls

The Gatekeepers

On The Road

Stoker

Happy People

Spring Breakers
