Harvest Public Media

Here at KCUR we grew a lot in 2014, not only in numbers but also in the way we go about reporting the news. Our Community Engagement team launched a long-term project and mobilized our staff to get out and meet you and to listen more to our community.

You gave us countless story ideas and helped us get to know the movers and shakers in corners of Kansas City we rarely reported on. We want to do more of that in 2015. Which is why we started the year by asking you what we should cover and why.

Here’s your list of what you said, Kansas City, in no particular order, based on feedback we received via social media and telephone messages this week:

  • Drive-by shootings
  • Criminal justice issues
  • Car hijackings
  • The price of living downtown
  • Local businesses
  • Art and artists
  • The impact of the streetcar
  • Kansas City T-Bones
  • Homelessness
  • State representatives
  • Sustainable energy
  • Carbon emission standards
  • Kemper Arena and the American Royal
  • LGBT issues
  • Voting in Kansas
  • Race and the Kansas City public schools
