West Monroe BBQ

Kansas City, MO – Thousands of people displaced by Hurricane Katrina are now calling Monroe, Louisiana home, if only temporarily. Local officials say it's impossible to get an accurate tally because many evacuees are uncounted, staying with friends or relatives or renting hotel rooms or apartments. Last week, the West Monroe Police Department held a barbeque to bring hurricane evacuees together over food. K-C-U-R's Maria Carter was there and spoke with evacuees about their experience in Monroe and what they left behind.
