Voter Registration Fraud Charges for ACORN Workers

By Steve Bell

Kansas City, MO – Four voter registration workers for the ACORN community organization in Kansas City were indicted on voter registration fraud charges Monday after they submitted what prosecutors say were fraudulent registration cards to the Kansas City Election Board.

Last week Kansas City Election Board Director Ray James said he called the FBI when his workers reviewing voter registration cards collected by ACORN found phony addresses, questionable signatures, multiple registrations for the same person and at least one registration for a dead person.

The FBI's Jeff Lanza confirmed the indictments, but said any other information would have to come from prosecutors.

Lanza:
"The FBI received some allegations about this matter and we did conduct an investigation that resulted in charges that were filed."

Kwaim Stenson, Dale Franklin, Stephanie Davis and Brian Gardner face federal indictments for turning in false voter registrations and have been fired by ACORN.

Representatives of ACORN said they cooperated in the investigation, and were pleased with the indictments.
