Kansas City, MO – The Conservatory of Music and Dance is considered one of the university's most successful academic programs. And during his tenure as Dean, Randy Pembrook oversaw a significant increase in faculty and student enrollment, arts partnerships, and a name change for the school to emphasize both music and dance.
PEMBROOK: And I think changing that name was an affirmation... we've expanded the number of faculty (in dance)...the number of majors went from 30 to 90.
Starting August 1st, Pembrook takes the job of Provost of Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. UMKC Chancellor Guy Bailey and others will soon begin the steps of naming an Interim Dean and finding a replacement. The next Dean of the Conservatory will oversee a planned 91 million dollar expansion. The first phase is expected to begin in spring of 2009. Laura Spencer, KCUR News.
