UMKC and Black Kansas City

Kansas City, MO – Relations between the black community and UMKC - both on and off-campus - are in crisis. That's the opinion of Don Matthews the director of the Black Studies Department at UMKC. He says UMKC suffers from institutional racism. Matthews told Laura Ziegler that it shows up in the few black faculty as well as the negative view of the University within Kansas City's black community.

Ziegler also spoke to UMKC Provost Bruce Bubacz.
