Topeka Hosts Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture
The Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture is slated to open in Washington DC in 2015. And although the ground has yet to be broken, the museum's staff is already collecting historical objects and running education programs around the county.

Kansas City, MO – This weekend, museum staff will be at Washburn University in Topeka, helping people understand the significance of family mementos, and how to preserve them better. KCUR's Sylvia Maria Gross spoke to the museum's Assistant Director for Curatorial Affairs Rex Ellis, who described what people normally bring to these events.
