Mayoral Commission Recommends Tax Hikes

The earnings tax will stay and sales and property taxes will increase if a mayoral commission on municipal revenue gets its way.  The commission, appointed by Mayor Sly James to create a municipal revenue plan for the future released its draft report late Monday.   Find out the details here.

Lawmakers OK Rolling Together Two Arts Organizations

Kansas lawmakers have approved legislation that would create a new state arts organization, the Kansas Creative Arts Industries commission. The bill would also create an arts check-off box on tax forms that would allow residents to donate to the arts when filing their Kansas income taxes.  Read more here.

Swope Health Will Use $2.5 Million To Build Independence Clinic
